The
Tonga High School Ex-Students Web Site(THSESWS) was created by Loseli Ma'ukie
Hafoka as a result of continual requests by many Tonga High School Ex-students
to have a page dedicated to Tonga High School. This is the official site
for Tonga High School Ex-Students and issues related to all chapters in Tonga
and abroad. The site is hosted in Melbourne, Australia but the headquarters for the Tonga High School Ex-students is based in Nuku'alofa, Tonga. It must be noted that Tonga High School(the current administration and the school as a whole) reserves the right
to publish the official web site for the school. This site is a gathering
place for all Tonga High School Ex-Students irrespective of any corner of the globe they may happen to be. The webmaster has no intention
of interfering with what Tonga High School authorities want to publish.
However, the webmaster reserves the copyright for all materials published
here. The logo for this site is based on the Tonga High School logo to
show our close affiliation with our beloved school.
As a response
to the requests from ex-students here in Australia and the U.S.A, it was
decided that Tonga High School needed its place on the internet by making
its presence felt. It became clear that so many of our ex-students are
using the internet on a daily basis. It is this very reason why I and so
many others decided it's time we had a page dedicated to Tonga High School.
A lot of work
has been put into creating this site and the sole purpose is to gather
all ex-students and current students of Tonga High School and its other
campuses to meet here and share information. The "Lalo
Kasia Forum" is already up and running and many of the ex-students
are already using it to discuss and share current issues relating to Tonga
High School. This forum is also very useful in gathering information for
our web site. The "Paini
Mutu Chat Room" has also been implemented and all are welcome to enter
and chat to each other from where-ever you are and whenever you feel like
chatting. The compilation of the email database is also going very well
and the webmaster is very thankful for all the responses, co-operation
and help from everyone in creating our email database. Thank you ALL!
This site is
doing a lot of pioneering work in collating school information. In fact,
this site is probably the leader in covering matters relating to any school
in The Kingdom of Tonga, a feat that we are so proud of! I have received
so many constructive and positive feedbacks from all over the world commending
and congratulating the work that we have done to our site. Mind you, half
of the comments came from non ex-students and foreigners.
One of our long-term
plans is to have a "joint venture" with Tonga High School administration
in order to provide courses online for our current students and others
by using our ex-students as online tutors. We have experts in any field
of study and it is only a matter of bringing them together to provide this
new venture. It will take a lot of work to co-ordinate, manage, implement
and maintain this online service but it is not beyond our means. New challenges
bring out the best in us. While there is life, there is hope!
The webmaster
decided to use the colours of the school in the design of this web site.
Being a co-educational school, the boys used to wear grey shorts and shirts
with brown sandals and brown belts. More recently, boys wear grey 'tupenu'
and a ta'ovala instead of shorts. For the girls, they
wear maroon blouses with white shirts and a yellow ribbon. Brown sandals
are also part of girls' uniform. Please note that the colours of the girls'
uniform dominate our site. This has been deliberately done to show respect
to all our fellow sisters, girlfriends and wives who have studied at Tonga
High School and to show the world that Tongans highly repect their female
counterparts. Culturally, our women have a very high status in our society.
It is therefore our duty to keep it that way!
