WORDS FROM THE WEBMASTER:
Welcome to the THSESWS monthly newsletter for the month of March,2000. Nothing much has been happening apart from a bit of "housekeeping" in terms of updating email addresses and class lists. However, I am delighted that the THSESWS has finally contacted the President of the executive committe (Mr. Vuki Tangitau). Vuki Tangitau is currently in the States on a personal business and I have been very fortunate to catch up with him via the internet.
Mr Tangitau has been formally briefed on the current status of our website and he has given the THSESWS positive and constructive feedbacks on the work that has been done so far.
Mr Tangitau did inform me that the executive committe in Tonga will try and pass on their newsletters to be uploaded to the website for everyone to read(what a marvellous contribution - a global access to these information at last!). Mr Tangitau has also informed Mr Willie Fukofuka and assigned him the task of making sure that the newsletters from the executive committe are delivered to the THSESWS for publication. I must personally thank Mr. Tangitau for his cooperation in making sure that the THSESWS and the executive committe can work together for the "common good" of our ex-students and more importantly; our school.
Mr. Tangitau has also written an article for us all and it is published below. We are privileged to hear from our President and to keep track of what our executive committee is planning so that we can all have access to all information regarding the ex-students and the school. Enjoy reading.
I have also included a staff profile section for the staff of Tonga High School. This has been set up as a result of requests from a few ex-students to include a list of the staff for each year. This new link can be found by clicking here or go via the main campus link from the front page of our website. I must thank Seini Vea Quach of the Melbourne chapter for supplying the school magazine of 1999. Seini has also supplied the THSESWS with some photographs which will be scanned and published soon. These photos (of the school and Queen Salote Memorial Hall) will feature on the front page of our web site over the next few weeks. Just bear with me please because time is a very scarce commodity.

ARTICLE FROM THE THESA PRESIDENT (VUKI TANGITAU):
Hello to every Tonga High School Ex-student and what a blessing to have
a medium such as the internet to get in touch with all of you! A great
big FAKAMALO to Loseli Hafoka for the use of the Tonga High School Ex-students' Website so I can get in
touch with most of our talented, dedicated and KIHE LELEI TAHA ex-students
of our beloved country and most prestigious school - AKO'ANGA MA'OLUNGA 'O
TONGA.
I want to briefly make a few comments on the latest developments insofar
as THSESA is concerned.
The new Constitution of the Association has been completed and thanks
to Mr. Laki Niu for his efforts as the ex-students now are well rewarded
with this much needed document to guide the Executive Committee in its
decision making. The beauty of such a document is verified by the fact
that as President of the Association, I now have a guide to follow when
making decisions in connection with financial matters. Furthermore the
Constitution guides and directs everyone in all activities that are for
the interest of the present student body as well as any function
sponsored by THSESA. Another plus is the credibility now confirmed
but was pretty evasive in the sense that nothing in the past was
secure enough to give everyone the conviction that we are real and that
we function as effectively as expected and with the assurance that all
ex-students are in a fraternity with solid rules to guide them.
TRUST was there but the CONTROL was not evident.
Another new element to the Constitution was the addition of a second
Vice-President to the Executive Committee making it possible now to
have a President and two Vice-Presidents. Such an addition is most
essential - there is so much to do as we move into the 21st Century and the
amount of work to be done and / or accomplished is not getting any smaller.
The Constitution, with the additions made, has given the Association
something of greater value to aid a smoother operation of Tonga High School's
Ex-Students Association.
Our plan for the year 2000 is to be in Australia for the school's 53rd
birthday. For better coordination of this upcoming activity, the Executive
Committee needs to know the name and address of each THSESA Chapter and their
respective Executive Members all over the globe. Please contact at
this website with this information.
There is need for closer coordination. Each Chapter has to have a copy of
the new Constitution to guide and help the members.
The new THSESA Executive Committee members must be brought to the awareness
of every ex-student. This being the newly elected group at the Annual
General Meeting of THSESA June of last year. There could have been more
changes or additions at the special AGM held in December of '99.
There is a monthly NEWSLETTER and I personally want to thank Mr Willie
Fukofuka, Halaevalu Palu, Ainise Sevele, and our present Secretary Amelia
Afuha'amango and the rest of the Executive Committee members as well as the
Chairman and members of the Social Committee for their time and dedication
which made it possible for the Association to come this far and with the
progress, thus seen to date, in our organisation.
Although belated I want to wish all ex-students in Tonga and abroad, members
of both the Executive and Social committees of our Association a wonderful
year as we enjoy the blessings of life and good health, without which we
would not be as effective as we are now in our many endeavours in life. May
our Heavenly Father continue to guide us and bless us with the knowledge and
the capabilities to be true advocators of KIHE LELEI TAHA. Until next time ,
tu'a 'ofa atu and Gold bless you all
MEETING FOR THE MELBOURNE CHAPTER:
